Иду по улице и вижу, как маленький черный комочек в траве барахтается. Присмотрелся внимательно, а это стриж. Прыгает, дергается, но ножки тоненькие и хиленькие, поэтому взлететь не получается. Я его аккуратно в ладонь взял и подкинул. Стриж сразу взмыл над головой, сделал благодарственный круг и скрылся в облаках, чтобы в другой раз на землю не садиться, а приземлиться где-нибудь на пятиэтажке или на крыше палатки «Пиво-воды». Стриж же может взлетать только с поверхности, находящейся высоко над землей.
Папа говорит, что все в этом мире сделано не зря, и даже такая бестолковая тварь, как стриж, создан для того, чтобы его, например, ели кошки. У нас в поселке этих дворовых голодных кошек видимо-невидимо. Глядишь, уже тащит стрижа в зубах, чтобы насытиться, только перья летят во все стороны.
А мне кажется, что стриж – это ошибка или недогляд природы. Отвлеклись на секундочку - и вот уже птичка не может самостоятельно взлетать с земли, и никакие кошки тут ни при чем. Еще стрижи поют хорошо, только я не слышал как. Никогда не слышал, чтобы стрижи пели, но что-то же они должны петь, даже если с земли взлететь не могут.
